Hussain Sajwani is a very prominent Emirati businessman who was born in either 1956. He was born and raised in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. His father was an entrepreneur who owned a retail store and Hussain Sajwani wanted to follow in his footsteps. In order to do so he became one of the first people from the UAE to be able to attend an American university. He was accepted at the University of Washington and he graduated four years later with bachelor degrees in economics and industrial engineering.
When Hussain Sajwani returned to Dubai he worked for a couple of years for Abu Dhabi Gas Industries. He then started a catering company with money he had earned in college. This company is still in operation today and its two biggest clients are the United States military and the industrial giant Bechtel. In 2002 he opened his next company, DAMAC Properties. DAMAC Properties is a property development firm that focuses on creating luxury properties. As the DAMAC owner, Hussain Sajwani works as his company’s CEO and chairman.
One of the latest properties Hussain Sajwani completed was the Akoya community. This property development is located on 964 acres just outside of Dubai. This is a gated property and it includes a golf course that is named after Donald Trump whose organization manages it. He sometimes uses over-the-top marketing tactics to sell his properties. For example, for a decade he gave either a BMW or Lamborghini to homebuyers who made their purchase during January. He’s also tossed in other things to buyers of his properties such as Jet Skis or a free vacation to Dubai.
Hussain Sajwani has earned a number of honors over the years. In 2017 the CEO Middle East Awards gave him their Property CEO of the Year award. They also placed him at #15 on their Hotelier Power 50 list. The Hussain Sajwani family lives in one of DAMAC Properties developments. He is married and they have four children including one who attended North Eastern University in the United States. He is presently worth an estimated $3.1 billion.
